Everyone is welcome to the Stocksmoor Village Association Annual General Meeting.
This year we are pleased to announce a special presentation by the Kirkburton History Group on the Robert Carter Archives.
Robert Alister Carter (1948-2021) of Kirkburton was a prominent local historian who, during his lifetime, amassed a great collection of local historical documents, photographs and archives with many of them donated to him by local residents.
Robert was also a correspondant for the Huddersfield Chronicle newspaper and he reported on, and photographed, many local village events over the years.
Robert's family are keen that this very significant and important local history collection is kept together in Kirkburton.
The Kirkburton History Group are in the process of helping with the management of this.
Please join us for a fascinating look into the history of our local villages and people.
Complimentary drinks provided.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Special Message from the Chair of the Stocksmoor Village Association
Hello All,
I am making contact with you today not just as chair of the Village Association but someone who loves Stocksmoor - the place we all call home. Our village has always been more than a collection of houses and roads, it is a living, breathing community built on kindness, tradition and the countless acts of generosity that each of you bring to it.
Now, we need your help.
The Chair and Treasurer are moving on and won't be standing for re-election next week. This puts the village Association at a crossroads. Without new volunteers to step forward and join the committee we risk losing an important aspect of what makes our village so special.
The village events, activities and groups together with the care for our green spaces and the countless unforeseen efforts that bring us together - these things don’t just happen. They rely on people like you, willing to give a little time and energy to keep our village thriving and making sure that future generations feel the same sense of belonging and pride that we do.
If you can spare some time, step forward. You don’t need special skills – just enthusiasm, ideas, and the willingness to be part of something bigger than our individual selves. Together, we can ensure that our village just doesn’t survive but flourishes.
If you feel called to help, or even if you’re simply curious, please come to the AGM next Wednesday 15th October or get in touch with me. Let’s talk about how you can be part of shaping the future of a wonderful community.
Yours sincerely,
David Smith, Chair
