Volunteer Car Service

The Valleys Volunteer Car Service operates for individual residents of Kirklees. This service has been supported by the Government (Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport) and the National Lottery.

The purpose of the Service is to:

• Connect people with others

• To overcome transport barriers

• To reduce loneliness and isolation

How the Service works:

• Volunteers drive their own car to help others

• Passenger pays the volunteers expenses

• Volunteers wait a reasonable time at the destination

• Used for shopping, hospital visits, health appointments, social groups, visiting friends and family

The Service is provided  on a one-to-one basis and is not available to community groups.

Users of the Service must be a registered member of the Denby Dale Centre.
